Nick Carter of Backstreet Boys and reality TV fame is bringing his All American tour to Canada.

The boy-band pioneer is promoting his latest solo album by the same name.

We got the busy BSB to answer a few questions about music, life and becoming a better dancer.

Q Who is the audience for your solo work?

A I make music for everyone — my latest album All American is a fun album that I think everyone can enjoy. There’s a little bit of everything — rock, pop, ballads and a few upbeat jams.

Q What is most rewarding about the solo career?

A I get to play guitar a lot more during my live show. That’s something I love to do. My solo music has a lot more rock influence than BSB stuff. I’m a rocker at heart.

Q Is songwriting a major part of your life?

A Definitely. I love writing. It’s therapeutic.

Q How is 2016 Nick different than 1996 Nick?

A He’s a little better at dancing, ha!

Q Is it easier or harder now to perform?

A In many ways, it’s easier. I love performing. I’ve finally got down all the dance moves. Twenty-three years worth of dance moves is a lot to remember! The Backstreet’s Back dance always tripped me up.

Q Best gift you got from a fan?

A That’s a hard one. Everything I receive means something to me. The fact that someone takes the time out of their busy lives to even think of me is still so amazing. I really have the best fans.

Q When did you know Backstreet Boys were going to be huge?

A We had some fans stow away in our tour bus. I had a feeling things were only going to get crazier from there. We were in Europe at the time and things had just started to get crazy; it must have been either 1997 or 1998. I think it was me and Howie on the bus, and we went back to the bunks to get a few things. All of a sudden two girls popped out and lost it. It was wild.

Q Do you have a favourite photo or keepsake from the height of the Backstreet days?

A I have all of our gold and platinum records. Those are some of my most prized possessions. There are so many memories attached to each one.

Q Were you ever a crazy fan of someone yourself?

A I’m a big fan of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers …. does that count?

Q Have you ever written a fan letter?

A Every social media post is like a little fan letter to my fans. I love talking to them. Other than that, no I haven’t written a fan letter that I can remember.

Q What was the hardest thing for you to learn when you were starting out?

A Everything happens for a reason.

Q Did you get any good advice early on that helped you?

A Probably the same thing — everything happens for a reason. It took me a while to really understand and appreciate this, and I’m definitely still learning.

Q You have been part of two reality shows, so tell us how real are reality shows?

A Ha, more than you’d expect, actually.

Q What did you miss the most once the Backstreet Boys become world famous?

A There were a few small things, but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.

Q Would you encourage your son to go into show business, a boy band?

A I will support him in whatever he chooses.

Q Looking at your life what makes you proudest?

A Every day with my son — it’s incredible how even the tiniest things make me so proud.
