Saturday: Calgary Beer Core’s tribute to Alice in Chains The grunge band survived lead singer Layne Staley’s death in 2002, but caught most of its acclaim during the Seattle rise of the early 1990s. Local band Dirt, named after Alice in Chain’s second album and in charge of the tribute tunes, plays only Staley material. Cities Natural Conclusion, the February release from decorated folk singer Rose Cousins, is personal and at times sad. She lightens the mood with witty banter at her live shows, of which Calgary gets a double dose this week.
