Brian Goerzen, beloved husband of Susan Goerzen of Calgary, AB, passed away on Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the age of 52 years. Brian worked as a courier for thirty years with Schlumberger of Canada, and then moved on to be a field technician within the same company. He had a passion for boating and believed that everyone should own and enjoy a boat within their lifetime; he influenced and encouraged many of his friends to get into boating. Brian spent a lot of time at Christina Lake with his family, dogs, and friends. He also loved being involved with his kids; coaching his son’s hockey team, as well as both his son and daughters’ community soccer teams. Brian is survived by his wife Susan Goerzen; his children Melissa and Bryce; parents Marilyn and Leonhard Goerzen; his brother and sister-in-law Barry and Lori Goerzen, and their daughter Maya; sister- in- law Debbie, her husband Ken Coakwell, and their sons Jamie, Matthew and Kyle; his best friend Glenn Marsh; as well as his dogs Trapper and Cricket. We wish to thank the caring and supportive staff at the Dulcina Hospice for the exceptional care they gave Brian. A Celebration of Brian’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY (Chapel of the Bells, 2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 3: 00 p. m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. Brian’s family requests that you bring a memory or story about Brian to the service to share. If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Brian’s name may be made directly to the Alberta Animal Rescue Crew Society (AARCS) at http://aarcs.ca/donate/. In living memory of Brian Goerzen, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
