Tyler, William G. (Tim) of Calgary, Alberta passed away in his sleep early in the morning of April 11, 2017. As he wished, he was in his own home and his own bed. Born in Cardston, Alberta, Tim had a full life. He served in the armed forces in his youth, initially in the army before transferring to the Air Force and training as a tail gunner. Fortunately, WWII ended just before he would have been transferred to Europe. On his separation from the forces, he went to the University of Alberta and emerged with a degree in geology. It was during this time in Edmonton that he met his future wife Eleanor June Lovette. Over the next 25 years, Tim had a long successful career in the oil & gas industry in Edmonton and Calgary before retiring in his fifties to run his own E&P company. Tim and June very much enjoyed their retirement, traveling extensively and surmounting any challenges that life threw at them with zeal and most importantly, a great sense of humour! June passed away in 2013 and Tim never doubted that he would be joined with her again. Tim is survived by his six children, Michael, Nancy, Tim, Pat, Joel and Chris and their families, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In accordance with his desires, there will be no “fuss” so the family will be marking his passing privately. The family wishes to thank all of the people who helped Tim to enjoy his final years, especially the caregivers who came to play such an important part in maintaining his independence. He knew he was truly blessed in their care. In living memory of Tim Tyler, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park.
