NDP is right to be wary of Green Line

Kudos to our provincial government for telling the city it needs to have a proper plan, timeline and budget before getting money with no strings attached for the Green Line LRT project.

Time and time again we have seen city officials push projects with no idea of true costs. A perfect example is the city’s cost estimate for the bus tunnel under 90th Avenue associated with the southwest rapid bus transit project.

It was estimated to cost $4 million in 2010, but the city has refused to provide an updated budget, even though the equivalent tunnel under Bow Trail costs more than $60 million.
