The Maya World Extension is a three-day tour offered by a Canadian-based company called Island Expeditions (islandexpeditions.com). The inland tour cost $729 Cnd per person, including taxes. If you’re interested in birding, you can book an extended stay directly with Bird’s Eye View Lodge (birdseyeviewbelize.com). Rates start at $60 US per night. There’s an on-site dining room and the food is good. They can also arrange day tours. You’ll see birds year-round in the lagoon, but they become more concentrated in March and April as the water in the lagoon gets lower during the dry season.
