Saturday: Brandenburg Concerto No. 5
The series of six concertos was composed by Bach for Christian Ludwig because he “noticed then that Your Highness took some pleasure in the little talents which Heaven has given me for Music.” It’s speculated Bach was the harpsichord soloist at the premiere; Matthew Halls fills the big wig for the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra.
