Hometown bound

- LINDSEY WARD

Well, we’ve got to the point in the season where the L-word gets tossed around — and those who aren’t feeling it get tossed aside. This week Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay had to decide whose hometowns to visit. We already knew Bryan and Peter were shoo-ins, but her decision to cut ties with Adam and Matt, well, that was pretty predictable, too. That means Dean is going to have to bring Rachel home on Monday’s episode (City/ ABC), and the poor guy is likely to be on edge given his family situation ( his mom died when he was a teen, and his relationship with his dad is strained). As for Eric, maybe meeting his family will finally teach us something about him. Is he marriage material? Are any of them? According to one mom in the episode’s trailer, at least one of them is not. Cue the drama.

MILLENNIALS GET LAST LAUGH

Sure, Dan and Riya are upset they didn’t win The Amazing Race Canada. The friends and YouTubers from Toronto were the last team to arrive at the Pit Stop after they struggled this week with a high ropes course in Fort McMurray. But they want their fans to know there is a bright side here. “If anything, it will just make for better YouTube content and a better friendship,” Riya said. The remaining teams will race to Castlegar, B.C., where the challenges get harder and the stakes get higher (July 18, CTV).

READY, SET, BAKE

A pinch of sugar and a tablespoon of sarcasm are bound to be main ingredients on The Great Canadian Baking Show now that CBC has announced Dan Levy will co-host. The new series, debuting Nov. 1, has hired the beloved Schitt’s Creek star along with actress Julia Chan to lead 10 amateur bakers from across Canada through culinary challenges in hopes of landing the still-TBA grand prize. Bakers Bruno Feldeisen and Rochelle Adonis will serve as judges.
