Velvet brings upscale allure to any space
From curtains to cushions, these picks from Alykhan Velji are on point.
Look through any decor magazine and you will see that velvet is coming back in design. This alluring fabric screams luxe and adds great textural element to a space. But ensure you are using it on one key element in a room. Just like a busy pattern, velvet can be a little overwhelming. Velvet looks great in bright bold, saturated colours like emerald, magenta or royal blue.
Here are my favourite design finds all in velvet.
1.
Mobilia — green velvet sectional
This sleek and modern sectional is an excellent example of using velvet in a modern way. The rich green adds a sense of glamour and is very on trend.
2.
West Elm — velvet pillows
If a sofa is too big of an invest- ment, try throwing a velvet pillow or two on a sofa, side chair or bed. Coming in a few colours, there is sure to be one to suit your space perfectly.
3.
Restoration Hardware — velvet draperies
This is about as luxe as you can get, velvet curtains in a rich and opulent grey. These grey curtains give off a modern vibe.
4.
All Modern — velvet bench
This versatile bench can be used in so many spaces. I love the addition of the brass elements and the light pink velvet, giving the streamlined bench a feminine quality.
5.
Joss and Main — Jenette tufted ottoman
This emerald green ottoman is suited for the most grand libraries or sitting areas. The turned feet with wheels add another air of sophistication to the piece.
6.
Crate and Barrel — velvet accent chair
This stately but modern chair upholstered in a deep burgundy is design perfection. The armless style makes it perfect for small spaces, yet it feels grand enough to be used in a stately space.
