Suspect sought after attack on senior in Airdrie road rage
Mounties are searching for a suspect in a violent road rage incident in Airdrie that ended with an elderly driver being knocked unconscious.
The elderly man had been driving eastbound on Highway 72 around 5 p.m. Tuesday when he was passed by a newer model Chevrolet Silverado 1500.
The Silverado began “driving erratically,” including performing “brake checks” in front of the victim, Airdrie RCMP said in a release Wednesday.
The elderly driver pulled over to allow the Silverado to drive away, but the suspect stopped and reversed the truck toward the victim’s vehicle.
“The male suspect then exited his vehicle and approached the victim in an obvious attempt to cause a confrontation,” Mounties said.
Mounties believe the suspect then assaulted the elderly driver, knocking him unconscious.
The victim was injured but is expected to make a full recovery, police said.
The driver of the Silverado is described as approximately 55 years old, five-foot-seven and stocky, weighing approximately 200 pounds. He also had a long grey or brown beard.
