Edmonton police seize drugs, guns after search
Parents of a baby and toddler face a string of charges, including causing a child to be in need of intervention and exposing a child to risk, after fentanyl, marijuana and illegal firearms were seized from a southwest Edmonton home.
Following a four-month investigation, search warrants were expedited when police learned that an infant and a toddler lived in the target home. A man and woman were arrested and charged Jan. 12.
Officers seized 109 fentanyl pills, marijuana in various forms, two handguns and more than $90,000 in cash after a search of the property.
The parents face charges that include two counts of causing a child to be in need of intervention (under the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act), two counts of abandoning/exposing a child to risk (under the Drug Endangered Children Act), two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl and marijuana), production of a controlled substance (marijuana grow), simple possession (THC gummies), and several firearms charges. The accused are free on bail and scheduled to appear in court Feb. 27.
