Thirty-seven charges were laid and more than $180,000 worth of stolen property was recovered after a string of mid-December arrests as part of ongoing stolen vehicle investigations by the city’s auto theft task force.

On Dec. 14, members of the surveillance arm of the task force were notified that a stolen Dodge Ram they’d been watching was involved in a high-speed taunting incident.

The truck was found abandoned in the area of 14th Street and 16th Avenue N.W. One of the suspects was located and arrested less than a week later on Dec. 20.

That arrest came one day after investigators got a tip linking the Dodge Ram to other stolen vehicles in the city.

A home break-in on Dec. 21 in Tuscany gave investigators another lead in the case, which led police to locate the stolen Tacoma in the parking lot of the Flames Community Arena on 47th Avenue S.W. A male and female were arrested.

The next day, police located the blue Audi in the parking lot of the East Hills Walmart, where the DOT10s observed two men leave the car and enter the store.

Assisted by the canine unit, officers took both suspects into custody as they exited the store.

On Dec. 28, police observed yet another stolen vehicle and arrested another suspect.

Facing numerous charges following the arrests are Cameron Randall, 34; Dale Christopher McPherson, 33; Evan Richard Buttle, 31; Julius Peacemaker, 30; and Matthew Alan Douglas Cross, 35.
