THOUGHTFUL DESIGNS
Turin II features an airy layout
When one person in a couple has to get up well before the other, it’s important to be mindful of lights and noise.
Having everything needed to get ready in the morning tucked behind one door limits the chances of being disruptive. This is one of many considerate design features in the Turin II.
The 1,515-square-foot floor plan is part of Shane Homes’ Street Towns complex in the northeast Calgary community of Cornerstone, which features a stylish contemporary exterior elevation.
Uncommon for homes in multifamily developments, both its generously sized walk-in closet and ensuite are accessed through the same door. This lets the person who has to leave for work earlier shower, brush their teeth, pick their outfit, and get dressed without re-entering the sleep space.
Separating the closet and ensuite are white wire shelves, ideal for organizing and storing linens.
The master bedroom, itself, also stands out. It has a substantial window and measures 13 feet six inches by 11 feet 10 inches, comparable to the dimensions of master bedrooms in some single-family laned homes. As such, dressers and night tables are an easy fit.
The home also has two secondary bedrooms, similar in size, on the opposite end of the top floor. Just outside of these bedrooms is a full bathroom next to a laundry area closed off by double doors.
Another feature reminiscent of a single-family home is the staircase to the first floor. Its airy open-tobelow concept not only makes the home feel larger and but adds to its architectural interest, as well.
On the main floor, the kitchen makes cooking with multiple people a breeze. It’s a U-shape with substantial room from one end to the other.
This includes plenty of elbow room between a person at the fridge and another at the stove and over-the-range microwave.
The appliances are stainless steel, the counters are granite, and there’s an eye-catching glass brick backsplash.
A sink sits under a large window on the rear wall, which is handy for a parent to keep an eye on their child while cooking dinner.
The opposite counter faces the open-concept dining area and boasts a peninsula with four stools.
Having this seating next to the
dining area is useful for extending the social space when hosting gatherings.
The great room has a window above-average in size, pulling light throughout the main level.
This development is fee-simple, which means the buyer owns and is responsible for both the exterior of the home and the land it sits on. As a result, there’s no need for a condo board or condo fees.
Cornerstone by Walton Development and Management is in northeast Calgary, just east of the established community of Sky- View Ranch.
It will include around 38 hectares (95 acres) of park and school space, and is slated for 14 kilometres of pathways and 72 hectares (180 acres) of natural wetlands, as well.
Cornerstone is also planned to include a major activity centre that will boast a combination of residential, commercial and retail opportunities, such as a future grocery store.
This site is also projected to be the next stop on the northeast leg of the LRT.
