COPPER GETS GOLD FOR VERSATILITY
Flex room, optional developed basement add range of options in Redstone townhome
Many people use a space in their home for something that goes beyond what it was originally intended for. Sometimes it’s a secondary bedroom that doubles as a home office, other times it’s a great room that works part-time as a yoga studio.
This is because the home lacks an additional space that doesn’t have a specific purpose, and can bend to those unique lifestyle needs.
The Copper is one of the exceptions. This 1,438-square-foot, twostorey townhome with a single-car detached garage is presented as a show home at the Townes of Redstone by StreetSide Developments.
On its second level, there’s an 11 foot eight inch by 12 foot one inch flex space. As the name suggests, it’s full of potential.
Pull in a desk and make it an open-concept workspace, mount a television to binge on a Netflix series, or add some free weights and an exercise bike to make it a workout station.
People with young children, such as a toddler, may also have it earmarked as a play space, where toys and books can be kept away from cluttering the main floor.
The flex area, located centrally on the second level, also provides a layer of privacy, separating the front-facing master bedroom and secondary bedroom that runs along the back.
The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet and ensuite. A laundry area with a front-load washer and dryer is conveniently placed just outside the door.
This allows the people with bedrooms on the second level to avoid hauling a basket full of laundry up and down stairs.
The secondary bedroom, measuring 10 feet by 11 feet 11 inches, also has a walk-in closet and is adjacent to a full bathroom.
While the Copper can suit a range of living arrangements, its optional developed basement, as demonstrated in the show home, expands those options further — even fitting the needs of a family of five.
The show home presents a basement configuration — measuring 727 square feet — with one bedroom, a full bathroom, and substantial rec area. But the floor plan also allows for two bedrooms in the basement.
Families with teenagers or adult children living in the home would appreciate the basement development, giving them a space to their own. It may also work for a rental tenant, to help offset mortgage payments.
On the main level, things are open and bright, with large windows spreading sunshine from both ends.
The foyer opens to the great room but it’s designed to restrict direct sight lines of the central kitchen and dining area along the back.
The dining area is staged with a table that seats six people. But it’s clear that a table with an extension leaf would accommodate even larger gatherings.
Entertaining is made easy in the kitchen. It’s highlighted by an over-sized island with a sink and extended eating bar that comfortably seats four people.
Also featured in the kitchen are a generous pantry, full-height backsplash and stainless steel appliances, including an over-therange hood fan.
The Townes of Redstone is a fee-simple development, which means the buyer owns and is responsible for the exterior of the townhome and the land it sits on. As a result, there’s no need for a condo board or monthly condo fees.
It also creates a defined outdoor space, including a private backyard and a large patio.
Redstone is a community accessed off Metis Trail in northeast Calgary. Master-planned by Qualico Communities, it’s a finalist for the Community of the Year-City of Calgary Award at the BILD Calgary Region Awards set to be announced at a gala event in mid-April.
