EVANSTON, REDSTONE

A parade of show homes

- JOSH SKAPIN

Two communities on the north end of Calgary developed by Qualico Communities have new examples of what their respective builder groups can offer people in the market for a new home.

Evanston in northwest Calgary has a show home parade featuring 12 models, and Redstone in the city’s northeast quadrant has a parade of 13 models.

In Evanston, the parade features laned single-family homes and duplexes. An event to celebrate the launch, featuring food and familyfriendly activities, runs from noon until 5 p.m. today.

The show homes, featuring Trico Homes, NuVista Homes, Broadview Homes, and Jayman Built, are on Evanston Hill and Evanscrest Park N.W.

They shine a light on two new phases, featuring laned singlefamily homes and duplexes, both starting from the $360,000s, including the lot and GST.

“Evanston now has a full range of products. With the opening of these two phases, there is something for every price point,” says Laura Field, marketing co-ordinator for Qualico. “The duplexes and the laned homes will be very popular options for people wanting to downsize or to get in at a different price point.

“The lots in these new phases are ideally located. Some back onto a dry pond, and they are all walking distance to one of the soon-to-be three schools in Evanston,” she adds. “The builders are all really in tune with what the market wants, and we’re really looking forward to the grand opening for these show homes.”

The maturity of Evanston as a community has also been important to house hunters.

“The schools mean you don’t need to bus your children, the transit means you can get around easily, the commercial is already in place — it’s all in Evanston,” Field says. “In the commercial space, there is a clinic, banking, yoga, restaurants — pretty much anything you would need is located in the Evanston Towne Centre. Families can ride their bikes ... and enjoy the seven parks in the community.”

In Redstone, the show homes — by a builder group comprised of Shane Homes, Trico Homes, NuVista Homes, Pacesetter by Sterling Homes, and Broadview Homes — are on Red Embers Manor N.E. and Redstone Drive N.E.

They showcase front-drive single-family homes, which start in the community from the $500,000s, and duplexes from the $380,000s.

“The demand for front-attached homes in Redstone is high, so the release of more lots for this type of product is exciting to buyers,” Field says, adding the duplexes “will be great for downsizers or young couples looking to purchase their first home.”

“The builders have done a fantastic job with the two new parades. There is lots to see,” she adds.

This includes show homes at StreetSide Developments’ new townhome development that launched earlier this year.

Connections are an important part of the community, says the developer.

“It is so close to Stoney Trail and Metis Trail, Costco is less than 10 minutes away, people who work at the (Calgary International Airport) love the community as it is so convenient to get to,” Field says. “Families love Redstone because of the parks, especially the Redstone Central Park, where you can always see neighbours catching up and watching their children play.
