CALBRIDGE’S SONOMA II
Let the kitchen parties begin
People who like to host get-togethers with friends and family know the kitchen is the linchpin.
It not only has to perform as a cooking space but also support both movement and the ability to gather and chat.
Such a design is one of the core pieces to the Sonoma II show home by Calbridge Homes in Legacy.
Calbridge was recently crowned Builder of the Year at the BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Calgary Region Awards
The 2,301-square-foot frontdrive Sonoma II boasts a spacious L-shaped kitchen, with a generous amount of space between its island and features along the wall. This makes it easier to socialize while standing around the island, or for multiple people to chip in with dinner preparation and circulate without getting in each other’s way.
The island sits under pendant lighting and has a sink and extended eating bar that seats four people.
In terms of function, there’s also efficient pacing between appliances, so one person can be at the oven and another at the microwave, without standing shoulder to shoulder.
The appliances are stainless steel, and there’s a full-height backsplash that’s particularly eye-catching.
A large walk-through pantry connects to a mudroom, accessing the double-car garage. This creates a convenient path for hauling in bags of groceries after a trip to the supermarket.
The great room and dining area sit side-by-side along the rear wall, each with tall windows pulling in a large volume of natural light.
Making the open-concept kitchen, great room and dining area feel even larger is the fact that stairs to the second floor aren’t part of this space, but are near the front of the main floor instead.
The main floor also includes a flex area, dubbed on the floor plan a lifestyle room, that’s closed off by a stylish barn door. Parents of young children will appreciate the ability to use this space as a play area, so the clutter created by toys and books can be tucked away.
Larger family needs are supported with four bedrooms on the second level. The master bedroom has well-sized windows and an upscale ensuite that links to the walk-in closet.
The ensuite has dual vanities, a soaker tub, and shower with a glass door.
Next to the master bedroom is a bonus room with an elegant coffered ceiling and beam treatment.
Two of the secondary bedrooms sit side-by-side and have windows that overlook the front yard. They sit next to a full bathroom and laundry room with a front-load washer and dryer.
