Get into the spirit of Cinco de Mayo

-

The fifth of May doesn’t quite have the ring of Cinco de Mayo.

The date is marked in Mexico to commemorate the Mexican Army ’s victory over Napoleon III’s French forces during the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. While celebrations are mostly seen in the city of Puebla, southeast of Mexico City, there’s no reason Canadians can’t join in the fun.

Consider a few Mexican inspired recipes, such as tortilla soup, chalupas or mole poblano. But don’t stop there. There are a number of Cinco de Mayo cocktails that will help get the party started. Here are a couple to try.
