SHANE MULTI-FAMILY

- Josh Skapin

Three years ago, Shane Homes decided it would expand what it was offering people in the market for a new home by building multi-family developments — starting with the Mark 101 in Sage Hill. This year it was named Multi-Family Builder of the Year. Here’s an edited interview with Kevin Taylor, general manager of Shane Multi-Family.

Q To what do you attribute this year’s Multi-Family Builder of the Year win by Shane MultiFamily?

A The foundation of Shane Homes is 100 per cent customer satisfaction and service. This philosophy has been carried through the Shane Multi-Family division. We listen and respond to our customers in relation to their lifestyle, personal design preferences, practicality and functionality.

We take pride and are passionate on our journey throughout our multi-family project design, marketing, construction, warranty and, most importantly, customer interaction and satisfaction.

We are all part of the team. We encourage an open atmosphere, to communicate freely and foster relationships in a positive manner. Consultants, suppliers and trade partners are very important in our team and building process. We have high expectations and are committed to providing our best in all we do.

It is our mandate to obtain a high standard and quality of construction, not only for the beautiful finishes and surfaces you see, touch and feel, but just as importantly for the building that you cannot see — the foundation, structure and building envelope.

Q And the award was won on your first-ever condo development in the city. What do you feel made the Mark 101 a winner?

A We had a very experienced consultant team. Shane MultiFamily and the consultants collaborated not to follow the trend. We attempted to think out of the box in relation to design, condo living, finishes and assemblies.

Our suite designs were certainly recognized within the multifamily condominium market as newly innovated due to the number of design final categories at the BILD awards. This provides us with satisfaction that our extensive collaborative design development has been accepted.

The interior palette selections were carefully selected by our interior design team to provide a high specification with quality materials and finishes which have been broadly accepted by our customers.

We feel that we did not follow the typical trend in suite designs, but thought out of the box in relation to condo living, creating spaces that were fresh and new while remaining functional.

Our selection of beautiful finish materials and their applications set a high standard, providing longevity and value for the dollar. An example is the bathroom hardware — paper holder, towel bar and, yes, towel ring matches the manufacturer of the faucets. Small details matter.

The Mark 101 suite designs provide wide open comfortable living spaces with extensive natural light and large kitchens for gathering of family and friends while relaxing and entertaining. Large oversized patios and balconies are provided with every suite for comfortable outdoor living spaces.

Q What’s next for Shane Multi-Family? Anything you can share about your plans/ approach to the coming year?

A Yes. We have some new floor plans being released at our Saratoga in Skyview Ranch. Condos usually have the kitchen at the front entrance and you view the condo from long and narrow. On our new plan the kitchen is in the front on the street side, adjacent to the balcony. So far, our customer feedback has been very positive at our project Saratoga in Skyview Ranch.
