Spruce Meadows wins with soccer

-

Re: “Spruce Meadows to host pro soccer team, stadium,” May 7.

I would like to congratulate the business development team at Spruce Meadows on their great initiative to encourage soccer to their establishment.

They have done a great job promoting horse events over the years, and if they do as good a job for soccer, then Calgary can expect big things. They have a building that can be converted to a soccer field, and maybe later, a new covered arena. Soccer can fill in the gaps during Spruce Meadows’ slow periods.

They have the parking, they have an already tested transportation system from the LRT, and in a few years’ time, they will have Stoney Trail passing their front door.

Each year, Spruce Meadows has representatives from all over the world attend activities at their location, many of whom support soccer in a big way. So again, I say, congratulations, Spruce Meadows — this is very exciting. Martin Cull, Calgary
