NDP is treading on parents’ rights
Whether or not parents should be informed of their children joining a gay-straight alliance is a highly charged moral issue between parental rights and the rights of children that should not be dictated by any party through provincewide legislation, but instead, be left to local schools and parent associations to decide according to their own judgment.
The NDP showed “who they are” by dictating provincewide legislation, depriving parents of their moral right to be informed of their children’s activities; while the United Conservative Party showed “who they are” by democratically voting to oppose Bill 24, while at the same time not dictating that children joining a GSA be outed.
There is a distinct difference between a dictatorship and a democracy, and this comment from Premier Rachel Notley clearly demonstrates “who the NDP are.” Norm Kalmanovitch, Calgary
