First Nation applauded
Re: “First Nation to receive top business honour,” May 9. I was thrilled to learn the Fort McKay First Nation will receive the Aboriginal Economic Development Corp. award.
Too bad the bigoted environmentalists are denying the Aboriginal groups along the Kinder Morgan pipeline route the opportunity of a similar economic benefit from working with industry.
It is becoming apparent that other First Nation groups are finally beginning to engage in industrial development to their benefit.
There have been other examples in the past, such as the Kahnawake Skywalkers in Ontario and the NK’MIP Winery in southern B.C.
We should hail the development by the Tsuut’ina on the outskirts of Calgary.
Our governments should completely support the proposed pipeline by the Eagle Spirit Energy Holdings Ltd.
What could we do to help the Inuit, who have had their fur trade destroyed?
Truth and reconciliation to me encompasses more than schoolchildren.
