Woman jailed two years for dumping body in pond
Hours before his body was dumped in a Kananaskis pond, where it was discovered frozen months later, Calgarian Fletcher Kimmel was hooking up with a woman he met through Plenty of Fish.
According to a statement of agreed facts filed in the sentencing hearing of Stephanie Lee Outram on Friday, she and the man had sex in her townhouse before she discovered him dead in her bed.
Outram then wrapped the body in a raft she used for floating down rivers, loaded it into her Toyota RAV4 and drove out to Kananaskis Country with her grandmother.
Outram, 34, pleaded guilty to causing an indignity to a body in connection with Kimmel’s September 2016 disappearance.
His body was discovered in January 2017 in a block of ice in the Jumping Pound area of Kananaskis Country off Highway 68.
Provincial court Judge Gerry Meagher accepted a joint submission by Crown prosecutor Shane
Parker and defence counsel James Wyman for a sentence of two years on top of Outram’s remand time since her arrest.
The death of Kimmel, 31, was originally treated as a missing person’s report after he was last seen at a northeast convenience store getting into a black Toyota RAV4.
It was elevated to a homicide investigation when his body was located.
No one has ever been charged in his death.
