Images released of Stanley Cup ring-theft suspect

EDMONTON RCMP have released surveillan­ce images of a man believed to have stolen a 1988 Edmonton Oilers Stanley Cup ring.

The ring belongs to Norm Lacombe, a winger on the 1987/88 championsh­ip team.

Police said it was stolen from a vehicle in the Stony Plain area sometime between May 26 and 27.

A wallet containing credit cards was also stolen, according to a news release Thursday.

Mounties say the suspect recently used one of the credit cards in the town of Devon, southwest of Edmonton.

“Security footage shows the unidentifi­ed Caucasian male wearing the Stanley Cup ring,” RCMP said.

Anyone with informatio­n about the man is asked to call Stony Plain RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
