Armed robbers target motel

-

Police are asking the public to keep a look out for two suspects linked to an armed robbery in Vegreville.

At approximately 2 a.m. on June 13, two people entered the Garden Inn Motel, one armed with a handgun and the other with a long-barrelled firearm.

RCMP say the suspects approached a staff member at the front counter and forced her into the bar area. They demanded she open the safe and give them the money inside. The suspects obtained more than $2,000 in cash and fled in what is believed to be a newer black Ford F150 pickup with out-of-province licence plates.

The first suspect is described as six feet tall, with a husky build and wearing a black coat, full face mask, glasses and gloves. The second suspect is described as slightly shorter, wearing a hat, full face mask and a dark coat. RCMP say it is possible the second suspect is female.

Earlier that night, RCMP say a male and female entered the motel and asked a staff member at the front counter a variety of questions.
