Winston breaks ground in Walden
Shovels are in the ground for the latest development by Avi Urban in a southeast Calgary community east of Macleod Trail.
The veteran multi-family developer broke ground on construction for Winston at Walden recently.
“One of the most exciting events in the life cycle of a development is when we’re able to announce the commencement of construction,” says Charron Ungar, president of Avi Urban. “These events allow us to state, with assurance, that we’ve met our sales test and our product offering has been accepted in the market.”
Winston is planned for 190 homes with 40 apartment-style condos, in this case called flats, and 150 two-storey townhomes across 23 buildings. Its prices start from $253,000, including GST.
The development is currently about 25 per cent sold.
Avi Urban targets autumn 2018 for the opening of the development’s first show homes, and expects first possessions to be available in spring 2019.
“Recognizing the efforts of the Avi Urban team on the creation of Winston, this is when the vision starts coming to life and taking shape,” Ungar says. “I anxiously await the opportunity to walk through these amazing new homes as they near completion.”
Floor plans at Winston range from 941 to 1,204 square feet, and are available in two- and threebedroom configurations. Some of these homes come with a singlecar or double-car attached garage.
This marks the company ’s fourth development in Walden, following other sites in the community dubbed Branches, Edison, and Jackson.
Walden is a 166-hectare community by Genstar Development Co. that has 49 hectares in green space and nearly eight kilometres of pathways. The community connects to a regional pathways system that eventually links to Fish Creek Provincial Park.
Within the community there’s an established commercial complex called the Gates of Walden, which is anchored by a Save-onFoods grocery store.
A sales centre for Winston is at 340 Walden Parade and open from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and noon to 5 p.m. on weekends and holidays.
