Couple continue ace race
This is a straight-shooting couple.
The husband-wife duo of Murray and Candice Robertson have combined for 10 career aces, including one apiece so far this summer at Glencoe Golf & Country Club.
Candice continues to own household bragging rights. She celebrated her sixth hole-in-one back in mid-June when she made short work of No. 8 on Glencoe’s Lakes loop, completing that 128yard task with one smooth swing of a six-hybrid.
Less than three weeks later, her hubby added a fourth ace to his resume thanks to a fantastic fiveiron on No. 7 on the Forest Course, a 183-yard knee-knocker.
■ Shannon Kosowan will be saying only good things about her seveniron, her weapon of choice for an 80-yard ace on the seventh hole during a chilly, windy spin of Shaganappi Point’s Valley Nine.
■ Pat Offord delivered a sweet shot during ladies’ league play at Maple Ridge. Offord was flag-hunting with her three-hybrid on No. 8, which measures 118 yards.
■ After nearly three decades of trying, Howard Cofield-Forseth has joined the hole-in-one club. He finished the fifth hole at Richmond Green with one strike of a seveniron from 154 yards away.
■ Darryl Zoback apparently wasn’t distracted by the stunning mountain scenery at Kananaskis. He was flawless on the fourth hole of the Mount Lorette layout, finding the flag with an eight-iron from 170 yards out.
■ The second at Silver Springs is a downhill dandy, so David Field would have been treated to a bird’seye view of this ace. Field picked a perfect line with a pitching wedge on the 130-yard challenge.
■ Pat Geddes thumped a four-iron for a 185-yard memory-maker on the fifth hole of the Springs Nine at Elbow Springs.
■ Arden Brummell was one-anddone on No. 8 at Pinebrook. Eightiron was the right call from 128 yards out.
■ Jiggs Bascon breezed through the seventh hole on Serenity’s Dancing Bull, hoisting an eight-iron over the water and then making the 136yard commute to retrieve his ball from the bottom of the cup.
■ Also at Serenity, Rob Tourigny completed his personal hole-inone hat-trick on No. 14, nailing the target with a 52-degree wedge from the 119-yard blue blocks.
■ Rosemarie Goerlitz smacked a six-hybrid on the second test on McCall Lake’s Par-3 Course, and her aim was outstanding from 118 yards away.
■ Seven might be Joe Pruden’s lucky number. Pruden made short work of No. 7 at McKenzie Meadows, finishing his business with one swat of a ... you guessed it ... seven-iron.
