Calgary Stampede announces 2018 lottery winners

-

The Calgary Stampede has announced the winners of this year’s lotteries, who will collectively take home over $1.8 million in prizes.

Karanbir Sidhu of Calgary was the lucky recipient of the 2018 Rotary dream home, the 50/50 prize goes to Jacqueline Ann Randle and the $10,000 VIP loyalty prize was claimed by Lana Dawn.

Carolyn Goertz of Okotoks will take home a Canyon Denali, Randy Jones of High River wins the truck and fifth-wheel prize, Spring Bolton of Sparwood, B.C., gets a truck and boat, Robert Craswell claims the truck and toys prize, Alicia Clark takes home the SUV and Slingshot, Corinne Leblanc gets a Corvette, and Connie Zacharias of Edmonton claims the truck and Harley prize.

Edward Gordon, chair of the Calgary Stampede Lotteries Committee, said drawing the prize winners is always a rewarding experience.

“The excitement when we call the winners is only second to knowing that the proceeds from the Lotteries will go back into the community,” Gordon said in a news release Thursday.

Proceeds from the Calgary Stampede Lotteries are distributed to more than 50 local charities through the Kinsmen Club of Calgary and the Rotary Club of Calgary South.

“The next step is to hand over the keys and the cheques to the winners and tally up the proceeds to distribute to the charities,” Gordon said.

The winners will receive their prizes at a reception on July 24.
