LEAGUE FINES STAMPS’ DAVIS

- Danny Austin

After getting ejected from Sunday’s game, it was probably inevitable that Emanuel Davis was going to receive a fine from the CFL.

On Wednesday, Davis was one of five players from around the league who received disciplinary fines for their actions in Week 10. The official reason listed was for “making contact with and verbally abusing an official.”

It wasn’t something Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson believed was necessary, but Davis himself admitted Monday he was probably going to get punished further by the league.

Davis was ejected for “physical abuse of an official” during an early fourth-quarter scrum between the Stampeders and the Saskatchewan Roughriders.

“They made the call, I’ll live with it. I’ll be a professional and take it on the chin,” Davis said. “From my recollection with the rules, I think there’s supposed to be some punishment. I’m not for sure.”

As per league policy, the amount of the player fines was not made public.
