Extras sought for Disney’s dogsled adventure

Disney is looking for some local humans to participat­e in its live-action dogsled adventure film, Togo.

There will be an open casting call

on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Cochrane for the film, which will be shot in and around Calgary from Sept. 21 to February.

While the film is called Togo, Disney continues to use the code name Tenfold for the open casting call, which will be held at the production office at 320 5th Ave. W in Cochrane. (Across from the Safeway.)

Producers are looking for men, women and children to play background characters of Caucasian, First Nations, African-American and Asian descent.

The Caucasian, Asian and African-American men should have beards or some sort of facial hair and no modern haircuts. The Caucasian, First Nations, African-

American and Asian female extras should have no modern hair cuts or highlights in their hair. First Nations male extras should also have no modern haircuts. Producers are also looking for Caucasian children between three and 12 years of age with slim builds.

Togo takes place in Alaska circa 1925 and tells the true story of Leonhard Seppala and his Siberian husky Togo, who led a dogsled team across the wilderness to deliver serum to the village of Nome during a diphtheria outbreak. The film is slated for Disney’s streaming service, which launches later this year. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Seppala will be played by three-time Oscar nominee Willem Dafoe.
