Crew owner promotes team’s move to Austin

Calgary Herald - - SPORTS -

Austin, Texas doesn’t have a Major League Soccer team just yet, but the club already has a name, a logo and team colours. Anthony Precourt, who owns the Columbus Crew and wants to move his team to Austin by next season, and his Precourt Sports Ventures ownership group unveiled the Austin FC name and its green, black and white logo on Wednesday. The team name had already been registered by MLS in 2017. City council voted last week to move ahead with a stadium plan for a $200-million, 20,000-seat facility that will be privately financed and built on city land. Precourt still faces a lawsuit in Ohio that seeks to keep the team in Columbus.
