Indian act is not going anywhere

Re: “Stop apologizing and start making hard decisions,” Chris Nelson, Opinion, Aug. 27.

A number of years ago, New Zealand put an end to the funding of its Indigenous separatists via a sunset clause that gave them autonomy.

Canada needs to do the same, but to think native leaders will ever do away with the Indian Act is naive. The act is the mechanism by which the money is transferred. It’s not going to happen.
