Singer Bamford eager to return to dive bar roots

-

There’s something to be said for living the truth of your music.

Canadian country singer Gord Bamford is doing that on his new Honkytonks & Dive Bar tour by playing in small saloons and cabarets across the country. He starts his 29-city tour in Calgary at the Ranchman’s on Oct. 17 with supporting artist JoJo Mason.

“’Honkytonks and dive bars are where I cut my teeth in this business and fell in love with country music and performing. It’s where I feel right at home,” Bamford said in announcing the tour. “I’m looking forward to getting back to my roots where it all began.”

Bamford’s current single Dive Bar from his latest album Neon Smoke has hit the Top 10 on the country chart. Three other singles have come from the album, including Ain’t It Grand, a collaboration with Blue Rodeo’s Jim Cuddy.

Bamford has 24 Canadian Country Music Association awards and multiple Juno nominations.
