Banff park deserves respite sometimes
Re: “Should visitors be capped for stressed Banff National Park?,” Aug. 27.
I think Parks Canada should seriously consider summer fallowing Banff every so often, i.e., closing it all summer to visitors. Only local residents (with a special decal) and passing-through traffic could frequent the park. Compensate local businesses for lost revenue with funds from increased park pass fees.
As for the observed water quality effect of treated waste water effluent, Parks Canada staff should visit the privies in Kananaskis Country.
They have underground storage tanks, the content of which is pumped out and trucked to Calgary for treatment.
