Alex roars back for first LPGA title

American Marina Alex rallied to win the Cambia Portland Classic for her first LPGA Tour title, closing with a 7-under 65 for a four-stroke victory over Georgia Hall. Alex birdied the final five holes in a front-nine 30 to take the lead and added birdies on the par-five 12th and par-four 15th at tree-lined Columbia Edgewater. She made her only bogey of the day on the par-four 18th, leaving her at 19-under 269. The Canadians enjoyed a good showing in the event. Anne-Catherine Tanguay of Quebec City and Brittany Marchand of Orangeville, Ont., each finished at 5 under in a tie for 16th, while Brooke Henderson of Smiths Falls, Ont. was among a group tied for 21st at 4 under.
