SILENCE ON CLIMATE CHANGE ISN’T HELPFUL
I have come to accept that being against a carbon tax doesn’t make you a climate change denier.
There are valid arguments against the carbon tax, such as: It won’t make any difference, you can’t tax people to behave responsibly, climate change action has to be voluntary, and where does the money go?
The conservative parties in Alberta, other provinces and Canada, have decided they won’t include a carbon tax in their platforms.
However, if they want to appear to support overwhelmingly compelling scientific evidence that climate change is real, then they need to say what they’ll replace the tax with.
What else, gentlemen? Coal power conversion? Renewable energy sources? They also aren’t enough.
We probably need all three. David George Mackidd, Calgary
