POLITICIANS DUCK THE BIG DECISIONS
Re: Trans Mountain pipeline approval quashed by court We have another example of the judiciary running amok!
Since the inception of the Charter of Rights, the courts have given us euthanasia, abortion, and Indigenous consultation, all by reading in “certain rights.” No matter how you feel about these decisions, you should be upset that our federal politicians are happy to duck making the tough decisions. They just leave it to the courts.
This is gross dereliction of duty. Our federal politicians have to start ruling the country.
The courts need direction on what constitutes Indigenous consultation. Is it a letter, and an open mike in front of the NEB, or an agreement? An Act of Parliament giving direction would be a good starting point. Paul Gagnon, Calgary
