More pipeline consultation futile
So the court has said there was not enough consultation with the Indigenous groups before approval was given by the government, and now they need to reopen those discussions.
The prime minister and his cohorts have said the pipeline is going to go ahead, eventually. But the Indigenous bands of the Lower Mainland of B.C. ( but not elsewhere) have said they don’t want the pipeline under any circumstances.
Any new discussions will end up in the same place except it will take another year or two.
What, then, is the purpose of arranging for more meetings when the two sides will not ever be able to agree but the government will carry on with the same decision it has already made?
