Dickenson calls knee injury ‘serious’

Kamar Jorden is done for the year.

After Thursday ’s practice at McMahon Stadium, Calgary Stampeders head coach Dave Dickenson confirmed his team’s star receiver would undergo knee surgery that day and would be unavailable for the rest of the year.

“It was a serious knee injury. It was very unfortunate,” Dickenson said. “He’s got multiple things wrong. He’ll ultimately have to get it fixed, work hard and see where things fall.

“It’s tough. You understand where he wanted to be and what he’s doing.”

The Stampeders did not confirm the specifics of the injury, but said Wednesday medical tests had shown there was no arterial damage.

Jorden was hurt in the second quarter of Monday’s Labour Day Classic and is currently second in the CFL in receiving yards.

“We’ll go visit him. It’s very unfortunate,” Dickenson said. “Football’s so hard. You’ve got to move on even though he’s one of your teammates, family. We’ll be in touch and he’ll be around, hopefully.

“Certainly not the news I was hoping to deliver even though I was expecting it.”
