Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by CTrain
Police traffic investigators are looking into what resulted in man being struck by a CTrain at a northeast LRT station just ahead of Tuesday’s afternoon rush.
EMS were called to the Saddletowne LRT station in the 400 block of Saddletowne Circle N.E. about 3:15 p.m. for reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train.
After the collision, the pedestrian was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The incident resulted in the terminus of the northeast line being temporarily closed while the police collision reconstruction unit investigates the cause of the collision.
Meanwhile, police investigators spent significant time assessing a train stopped at the Whitehorn LRT station some seven kilometres to the south of the initial scene. Commuters were warned to expect delays through the area during the investigation. Police were unable to provide further information.
