Pedestrian in critical condition after being struck by CTrain

Police traffic investigat­ors are looking into what resulted in man being struck by a CTrain at a northeast LRT station just ahead of Tuesday’s afternoon rush.

EMS were called to the Saddletown­e LRT station in the 400 block of Saddletown­e Circle N.E. about 3:15 p.m. for reports that a pedestrian had been struck by a train.

After the collision, the pedestrian was rushed to hospital with life-threatenin­g injuries.

The incident resulted in the terminus of the northeast line being temporaril­y closed while the police collision reconstruc­tion unit investigat­es the cause of the collision.

Meanwhile, police investigat­ors spent significan­t time assessing a train stopped at the Whitehorn LRT station some seven kilometres to the south of the initial scene. Commuters were warned to expect delays through the area during the investigat­ion. Police were unable to provide further informatio­n.
