A unique way for families to remember their loved ones

-

McInnis & Holloway is proud of the unique legacy of the Memorial Forest Program and for 22 years we have been honoured to plant a tree in living memory for all the families we have served since 1996. The Memorial Forests are one way that McInnis & Holloway chooses to give back to the communities that allow us the privilege of serving them. A tree represents quiet strength, beauty, longevity and peacefulness — an ideal memorial to a person’s life. The Memorial Forest is meant to be a natural forest, one you can visit and enjoy and know that one of the trees has been planted in memory of your loved one. “We are proud to be part of a program that provides a unique way for families to remember their loved one, it adds meaning to the grieving process and allows families to find appropriate living and lasting memorials for those they have lost,” says McInnis & Holloway president Ernie Hagel. “This program also ensures the continued growth and enhancement of our park areas.” This year, 2018, marks the sixth year planting in the Burnsmead area of Fish Creek Provincial Park. With previous memorial forests located in Nose Creek Valley, Airdrie’s Fletcher Park, Big Hill Springs Provincial Park, and multiple memorial forests located within Calgary’s Fish Creek Provincial Park. Since 1996, our Memorial Forest program has grown to more than 50,000 trees that have been planted and are maintained year-round by McInnis & Holloway. All the trees that we have planted to date have great significance in so many lives. These trees are a living reminder of loved ones who have passed away, and continue to give hope that this little tree will grow and flourish to become part of a beautiful grove of trees that will benefit people, animals, birds and the world for years to come. Families are encouraged to come to one of the Memorial Forests®, and enjoy the protected haven they provide. It is our hope that our Memorial Forests are places that many Calgarians will visit and appreciate throughout the year. We work closely with Fish Creek Provincial Park to ensure their parks remain a natural sanctuary, the only permanent markers that will remain in each Memorial Forest are the granite markers McInnis & Holloway provides. The markers are engraved with all the names for whom a tree has been dedicated and planted for each year. McInnis & Holloway invites families and friends to attend the 2018 Memorial Forest Weekend in the Burnsmead area of Fish Creek Provincial Park on Saturday, Sept. 15 and Sunday, Sept. 16 from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
