Stoudermire likely to start for Stamps
If Thursday’s practice was any indication, Troy Stoudermire is likely going to get some time at cornerback against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
With Ciante Evans unable to play for the second straight week, the Calgary Stampeders had Stoudermire taking a good number of reps in practice Thursday, which could signal that he’ll get the nod over Tay Glover-Wright to start this weekend.
Don’t be surprised if he’s returning kicks, too.
“I’m kinda like the Swiss Army knife around here,” said Stoudermire, who signed with the Stampeders in the off-season after playing last year with the Edmonton Eskimos.
“In Winnipeg (2014 and ’15), at practice I used to play offence, defence and special teams.
“This year, I’ve probably played every position. Not in a game, but in practice coach moves me around a lot.”
Against the Edmonton Eskimos last weekend, the Stamps increased Stoudermire’s usage at returner after Terry Williams had a somewhat shaky game.
On Thursday, head coach Dave Dickenson insisted that he hadn’t lost faith in Williams, although Stoudermire will be used on returns, as well.
