Lucky $6.1M jackpot winner’s travel plans begin with Ireland
Just call him the $6.1-million man.
Calgarian Leonard Peters bought a Lotto 6-49 ticket months ago for the July 25 draw.
Cashing in the winning ticket netted him $6,116,450.
Peters said he was “calm as I have ever been” when discovering his ticket had the winning numbers 2, 7, 15, 31, 33 and 42, but his thoughts soon went to travelling the world on his winnings.
“Truth be told, I think I skipped the happy, excited, surprised part and went straight to being shocked and disbelieving,” he said in a news release.
He said his first stop will be Ireland.
“For years whenever someone asked me, ‘What would you do if you won the lottery?’ my answer stayed the same,” said Peters.
“I always said, ‘Travel. Travel is what I would do.’ I’ve always dreamed of travelling the world. I really want to see everything.”
Peters purchased the winning ticket at the 7-Eleven on Southland Drive in Calgary.
Peters split the $12.2 million jackpot with another winning ticket purchased in Quebec.
