Morris taken aback by rush of attention

A week ago, Romar Morris wasn’t getting talked about by many people outside McMahon Stadium.

The Calgary Stampeders rookie had played four games in the CFL this season, but hadn’t made a massive impact.

Then Morris put up 95 rushing yards against the Edmonton Eskimos, while adding 62 through the air and scoring four touchdowns.

Suddenly, the 25-year-old was invited by TSN to be one of three Stampeders players to be interviewed before Saturday’s game against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

“It’s crazy. When I was told I was going to be coming, I was like, ‘Me? What do they want to do with me?’ ” Morris said.

It’s not just extra attention from the media that Morris is getting, either. He’s also been on the receiving end of some heavy praise from Ticats head coach June Jones.

“Man, he’s scary,” Jones said. “He can play, he can go. If he gets the seam, he’s gone. I don’t know where (the Stamps) keep getting these guys. He’s electrifying.”

He’s got more work to do if he’s going to keep people talking, but he’s got every right to feel proud of the work he’s put in.

“It’s just a blessing,” Morris said.
