The impressive runs on the residential industry awards circuit by both Brookfield Residential and Kon-strux Developments this year has extended to the provincial stage.

These Calgary-based companies, which picked up major awards at other industry competitions earlier in 2018, respectively captured two of the top trophies at the BILD (Building Industry and Land Development) Alberta Awards, announced during a gala event last night in Jasper.

Brookfield Residential picked up the Developer Pinnacle Award, while Kon-strux was the recipient of the Renovator Pinnacle Award.

The Pinnacle Awards go to the companies that tallied the top scores in individual categories and demonstrate “excellence and leadership in design, safety, volunteerism and customer satisfaction,” says a release from BILD Alberta.

Other such winners include Ashcroft Master Builder of Lethbridge with the Large Builder Pinnacle Award, Perry Homes of Edmonton with the Small Builder Pinnacle title, and Averton of St. Albert with the Multi-Family Builder Pinnacle Award.

Brookfield also picked up two wins in community development categories. Livingston in north Calgary won the top Show Home Parade honour, while its Edmonton division took home the Existing Community award for Lake Summerside.

The provincial recognition follows two major honours for Brookfield at the BILD -Calgary Region Awards, where Cranston’s Riverstone was crowned Community of the Year-City of Calgary and Livingston won New Community of the Year.

For Kon-strux, the BILD Alberta Awards also continued a year-long haul. The veteran renovator picked up three trophies at the Canadian Home Builders’ Association 2018 National Awards for Housing Excellence in Victoria, B.C., in February, and was crowned Renovator of the Year — in addition to three wins in individual categories — at the BILD Calgary Region Awards in April.

Along with its Pinnacle award, Kon-strux won the provincial honour for Kitchen Renovation Under $100,000 with its entry Shades of Seafoam Blue, and Kitchen Renovation Over $100,000 with Spectacular Scullery.

From the 36 categories at this year’s awards, members of BILD Calgary Region earned 12 honours. Canadian Home Builders’ Association-Edmonton Region members led the way with 18.

“BILD Alberta Award winners display impressive design, innovation and creativity in each category,” says Wendy Jabusch, chair, BILD Alberta. “The winners truly exemplify the best Alberta has to offer in all areas of our industry.”

In individual categories, Calgarybased Alair Homes won for an estate home and a renovation. Its Colgrove Avenue Infill entry won for Estate Home $800,000 to $1 million, and Grandvalley Poolhouse picked up the trophy for Home Renovation Over $500,000.

Joining Brookfield’s wins in the community class was University District. The northwest Calgary community by West Campus Development Trust captured the award for New Community Development.

Calbridge Homes’ submission — which went to the winner of a recent Hospital Home Lottery — was proven to be a winner, too. The luxury home in Mahogany paced the category for Estate Home Over $1 million. Calbridge is the reigning Builder of the Year at the Calgary region level of the BILD Awards.

Logel Homes — the sister company of Cardel Lifestyles, which was named Multi-Family Builder of the Year, an honour available at last year’s awards — was recognized for the work at its debut development, Auburn Rise. The southeast Calgary condo development’s Atwood-H1 entry won for Multi-family Apartment Unit Under $500,000.

Along with Kon-strux, Calgary’s Ultimate Homes and Renovations and Diamond Valley Custom Homes of Okotoks also stepped into the renovation spotlight. Ultimate’s Strathcona Ensuite Transformation won for Bathroom/Ensuite Renovation, and Diamond Valley’s Rocky Mountain Oasis topped the list for Renovator’s Choice.

A Calgary company also stood out in the safety portion of the awards, of which there were honours for large volume builder, medium volume builder, small volume builder, and large volume general. Jayman Built, a builder of both single-family homes and multi-family development, won the Large Volume Builder title.
