This is a comeback campaign for the SAIT Trojans golf team, and Jordan Taylor started the special season in supreme style. The Trojans revived this particular program after a lengthy absence and, in their first official competition since the early 2000s, Taylor jugged a hole-in-one during Saturday’s opening round of the ACAC Men’s North Regional. A major in non-destructive testing and member at Heritage Pointe, the 25-year-old Taylor made the eighth hole at Lac La Biche Golf Club seem easy thanks to a nifty nine-iron from 166 yards away.

Denise Legue’s favourite golf hole? Right now, it must be the seventh on Serenity’s Dancing Bull. Legue, a platinum member with Play Golf Calgary, has now aced that assignment twice in a span of just over six weeks. For her latest, she launched a six-hybrid from 81 yards out.

Linda Wagner is a quick study. Shortly after a lesson to fine tune her iron play, Wagner notched her second career hole-in-one — both of ’em on No. 9 at what’s now Winston Golf Club. Wagner will be saying only good things about her seven-iron, her weapon of choice for the wonderful shot.

Dani Sheehan was one-and-done on the third hole at D’Arcy Ranch, completing that dandy downhiller with one crack of an eight-iron.

After four decades of trying, Tracey Durand drained his first hole-in-one during a spin of Kananaskis Country ’s Mount Lorette Course. Durand’s pin-seeker was a sweet seven-iron on No. 4, a low heater into the wind with just enough oomph to reach the target 180 yards away.

Yvonne Martinson scribbled a “1” on her scorecard on the seventh hole on McCall Lake’s Par-3 loop, hitting a five-hybrid for the 101-yard memory-maker.

John Bailey and Gary Connerton can swap stories after both celebrated aces on No. 15 at Maple Ridge. Bailey was flawless with a five-iron from 153 yards away, while Connerton picked a perfect line with a pitching wedge from the 134-yard decks.

Paige Comis cruised through the eighth hole at Shaganappi Point, cranking a utility club and then making the 115-yard commute to retrieve her ball from the bottom of the cup.

Joe Yeo was the toast of the clubhouse at HeatherGlen after acing the fourth hole on the Creek Nine during a tournament. Nine-iron was the right call on the 145-yard challenge.

Peter Shaw made short work of the seventh test at Silver Springs, smoothing a six-iron from 161 yards away.

Glenn Grainger didn’t need his putter on the fourth hole at Lakeview, instead finishing his business with a pitching wedge from 83 yards out.
