Listen to taxpayers on 10-day party
Re: Olympic economic boost ‘dramatically overstated,’ Sept. 17
Let’s just stop this nonsense. The same people who are screaming at the NDP for spending on health care, education, seniors’ care, lowcost housing and programs for disadvantaged Calgarians think it’s just fine to shell out an astronomical sum for a 10-day party. The Olympics is not a necessity, it is strictly in the nice-to-have category.
The numbers we have been shown are bunkum. Everyone knows the actual figures are going to soar.
Calgarians have told city council loudly and clearly that we are tired of taxes going up. Council needs to listen and stop making this a priority. We cannot afford it. Jo-Ann Mason, Calgary
