Mexico’s Tigres down TFC in Campeones Cup

-

Jesus Duenas scored twice to help Tigres UANL defeat hometown Toronto FC 3-1 Wednesday as the Mexican and MLS champions faced off in the first Campeones Cup. The result was a measure of revenge for the Mexicans, ousted by Toronto in March in the CONCACAF Champions League quarter-finals on the away goals rule. At stake Wednesday was a trophy and US$340,000. Each team picked up $240,000 for playing, with $100,000 going to the winner. Lucas Janson scored for Toronto in the 86th minute.
