Olympic bid all about city hall egos

-

Many of my friends are suffering from the downturn. I mean irreparable harm. Not just young people coming out of university are hurting, but individuals 45 to 55 years of age with experience and knowledge, who are floundering in unemployment, all the while our city council talks about spending $5 billion.

I’ve got news for you councillors, a survey of 500 people showing 50 per cent in favour of an Olympic bid is hardly a resounding vote in favour in a city of 1.3 million people.

That city hall wants this is no surprise, after all, it’s not their money being spent, but taxpayer dollars. This is about egos at city hall and I sincerely hope Calgarians put paid to this by voting NO. William (Bill) C. Macdonell, Calgary
