Put stylish modern infotainment system in your vintage Jaguar
Jaguar and Land Rover’s classic car arm is offering owners of the companies’ vintage vehicles an upgrade to their dashboards that would give them modern audio and navigation capabilities in an old-school-looking package.
The “single DIN-sized Classic infotainment system (head) units incorporate customizable satellite navigation in up to 32 languages, smartphone integration, Bluetooth connectivity and dual DAB/DAB+ digital radio, as well as FM and AM analog reception,” Jaguar Land Rover Classic said in a release.
The faceplate of the system, which differs slightly in appearance between Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles and is available in black or chrome/brushed silver, features a 3.5-inch touchscreen sandwiched between two “traditional”-style rotary knobs.
The cost of this retrofit is about $2,000 in the U.K.; the automaker says the service will be available in Canada in October, though it hasn’t said where or at what price.
Porsche has, since 2015, offered a similar service for its sports cars, though that unit looked a little more modern than the Jaguar Land Rover piece.
