Alcohol factor in deadly crash

-

Police say alcohol and speed are considered to be factors in a fatal single-vehicle collision in Calgary’s southeast Friday morning. The incident happened around 3 a.m., when a police patrolling unit came across a vehicle on fire near a car dealership in the 6400 block of 130 Ave. S.E. Police say the older model Oldsmobile had been travelling at high speed northbound on McIvor Boulevard S.E. toward a bend in the road when it struck two barriers, launched about 20 metres, hit a power pole and caught fire. The male driver — the sole occupant of the car — suffered fatal injuries. Anyone who saw what happened before the collision is asked to contact the Calgary police traffic section or Crime Stoppers.
